The Story of the Brand
Maison Alexandre.J was born in Paris in 2012, out of the temperament of a designer who has worked in perfumery for almost thirty years. For him creating is not a profession but a necessity, and you feel it in the house: scent and bottle are conceived as one work. His hand shows in the crossing of eras, the refinement of the past set beside the modernity of today. Art Nouveau became his natural home. The artists around 1900 reinvented their crafts in a time of upheaval, and the house sees a mirror of our own age in that. The house itself stands on Avenue de l'Opéra, in the heart of Paris.
The Signature of the House
The bottle is the first chapter. Every collection rests on the same restrained shape, and it is the dressing that makes the difference: sculpted glass, hand painting, enamel, ceramic, chased metal or art leather, often inside a case of leather and silk. The scents themselves look for warmth. The house has a weakness for patchouli, rose in full bloom and amber accords, and has familiar raw materials modernised into trails with real presence. Expect no timid perfume, but gourmand-oriental compositions with oud, vanilla, musk and wood, sometimes with a surprisingly fruity edge.

Art Deco pays tribute to the Roaring Twenties, with openwork bottles that recall a veil: The Majestic Musk, The Majestic Oud, The Majestic Jardin, The Majestic Vetiver, The Majestic Vanilla and The Majestic Amber.
