The Story of the Brand
Liz Moores founded Papillon Artisan Perfumes in 2011 and launched her first three fragrances in 2014: Anubis, Angélique and Salome. Her creations are inspired by history, romantic and literary concepts, the nature around her home, people and artwork. As with a painting or a poem, it is fragments of these muses that combine into something new. Papillon has since received many accolades, including at the Fragrance Foundation Awards, the Art and Olfaction Awards and Basenotes.
The Signature of the House
Characteristic are the square bottles with the butterfly on the label and compositions that are honest and rich, often with natural materials such as orris concrete, ambrette absolute, hay absolute and beachcombed ambergris. When composing, Liz Moores thinks of colours, textures and places, and of the people who will wear the scent.
Collections
The collection includes Anubis, Angélique, Salome, Tobacco Rose, Bengale Rouge, Dryad, Spell 125, Epona and Hera, the latter in pure parfum concentration.

Anubis, the house's very first fragrance, became a bestseller. Salome won Basenotes awards for Best Feminine Fragrance and Best Niche Fragrance, and Tobacco Rose and Bengale Rouge are much loved too.
