The Story of the Brand
Nissaba was founded by Sébastien Tissot, who spent many years in charge of sustainable sourcing of natural raw materials at one of the world's largest fragrance houses. He knew the farmers, the fields and the stills first-hand, and wanted to build a brand in which those people truly count. Together with Eric Stucky de Quay, he brought the brand to carefully chosen perfumeries. The name refers to the Sumerian goddess of grain and writing, patroness of the first schools. That is no coincidence: 5% of sales goes to young farmers who, together with agricultural schools, grow perfume plants and trees using regenerative methods.
The Signature of the House
Every Nissaba fragrance starts from a single origin: a country, its climate and the raw materials that grow best there. The perfumers are given complete freedom, with no budget limit on natural ingredients, no consumer testing and no predefined olfactory family or target group. At most 10% of the formula consists of molecules, just enough for radiance and longevity. The formula itself is remarkably pure: fragrance concentrate, organic alcohol and a little water. The light, label-free bottle with laser engraving and the refill system suit this conscious approach.
Perfumers and Collections
Nissaba works with renowned perfumers, each assigned a country. Frank Voelkl wrote Grande Île about Madagascar, Nicolas Bonneville built Sulawesi around the spices of Indonesia, and Alexandra Monet translated Paraguay into the fresh tea scent Chaco. Sébastien Cresp signed Provence, and Ilias Ermenidis created the tuberose scent Malli Nadu from Tamil Nadu. Further creations include Berbera, built around Somali frankincense, Tierra Maya and the Extrait Les Alpes. Many scents are also available in 10 ml, and the Discovery Kit lets you get to know the house in small bottles.
