Inspiration
Genes is the old name of Genoa and here the name of the colonia with which it all began. Stefano Frecceri, distiller and perfumer of the Real Casa, made it in 1853 and was granted the title Primo Fornitore Privilegiato del Re for it. The cologne became a fixture of the toilette at the great courts of Europe and, according to the house, played a role in the history of the Italian Risorgimento. After 150 years its character remains unchanged.
Fragrance Family
Citrus and eau de cologne
Fragrance Character
The classic colonia of Acqua di Genova, unchanged since 1853, for him and her.
The Signature of Genes
A colonia in the Italian tradition is light, bright and meant to be used generously. The house publishes no composition, but the style is that of the classic eau de cologne: refreshing on skin and after a shower, with a clean, groomed afterglow. The bottle with the S. Frecceri label recalls its origins.
What our ParfuMaria team thinks of this fragrance
This 100 ml is the bottle we keep in the fridge in summer for a refreshing spray after a hot day. Genes smells cheerful and clean, and fades after a few hours as a good cologne should. That means you can reapply it again and again, over clothing too. Lovely for men and women, young and old, and for anyone who enjoys a piece of Italian history.
