Inspiration
Under Louis XIV the guild of glover-perfumers flourished, reaching its peak in the eighteenth century. They perfumed leather to mask the smell of tanning. Peau d'Espagne, Spanish leather, was a famous formula. Oriza recreated its version from 1872.

To us Peau d'Espagne 1872 is a piece of living history. It starts surprisingly fresh and floral, and only after a quarter of an hour does the leather emerge, smoky with birch tar yet supple like a pair of old gloves. We love letting clients who like leather, but not too rugged, smell it. Beautiful in autumn, on a walk through an old city centre. A scent full of stories.
