The Story of the Brand
Founder Jean-David Jacoby fell in love with Greece at the age of six, during a family trip to Santorini in the late 1980s. For years he returned every year and visited more than twenty islands. After more than twenty years of experience in luxury and fragrance, he launched Hellenist in 2024 to share his passion for Greece and the art of scent creation. According to the house, Greek heritage is part of our collective memory: a poetic unconscious of stories, images and sensations. By uniting art and perfume, Hellenist brings back legends and forgotten heroes; Greece is a temple, Hellenist the temple of memories.
The Signature of the House
Hellenist stands for slow, quiet luxury, valuing time, craftsmanship and creation. The house chooses simple, elegant materials such as paper, wood, glass and ceramic, shaped into round, soft forms as a nod to nature. It is a true Mediterranean house: inspired by Greece, made in France, with components from the Mediterranean region and care for its environmental impact. Carlo Amen’s line drawings place the brand in the tradition of Mediterranean artists such as Fassianos, Picasso, Miró and Cocteau. The scents are composed by perfumers including Maurice Roucel, Alexandra Carlin, Suzy Le Helley, Alienor Massenet and Pierre-Constantin Guéros.
Collections
Hellenist’s Eaux de Parfum are À l’Ombre d’Artémis, Éveil du Faune, La Nuit des 300, Le Chant d’Achille, Les Bras de Morphée and Les Dieux aux Bains, each linked to a myth or hero. The house also creates ceramic scented candles, such as Moissons Célestes, an offering to Demeter with honey, bran and sandalwood.
