The Story of the Brand
The story begins in London in 1872, at The Crown Perfumery. The house soon became a favourite of the aristocracy and the European elite, and Queen Victoria granted it the exclusive right to bear her crown as its emblem. When Clive Christian acquired the historic house in 1999, he revived it with one conviction: to create perfume without compromise, with the finest ingredients, exceptional concentration and unparalleled complexity.
The Signature of the House
Every creation is a Parfum with 20 to 25 percent perfume oil and often counts more than two hundred ingredients, from fifty-year-old sandalwood to roses de mai and jasmine picked before dawn. The bottles bear Queen Victoria's crown and are recognisable by their colours: emerald green for 1872, black for X, gold for No1, red for the Crown Collection.
Collections
The Original Collection includes the icons 1872, X and No1, each in a masculine and feminine version. The Private Collection, with C, I, L and V, celebrates creativity and craftsmanship. The Crown Collection revives historic creations from the archives, such as Crab Apple Blossom, Matsukita and Town & Country. The Noble Collection explores the opulence of the Art Deco era with Amberwood and Blonde Amber, and Addictive Arts captures unique molecules using headspace technology. There are also anniversary editions and travel sets.
Popular Fragrances
No1 is the masterpiece of the house, with aged sandalwood and Madagascan vanilla. X Masculine and X Feminine tell the love story of Mark Antony and Cleopatra. Crab Apple Blossom dates back to 1886, and Jump Up and Kiss Me Hedonistic unites tobacco, black cherry and labdanum.
