Inspiration
Bold As Love by master perfumer Pierre Negrin continues the story of Chords, more than two hundred years later and at the same address on Brook Street: Jimi Hendrix lived there too. Negrin found a photo of Hendrix in a purple costume, his own favourite colour, and wanted to capture the guitarist's raw energy and style in smoky leather.

Mandarin and ginger open sharp and fresh, with a fruity accord of apple and pineapple adding a playful edge. The heart is aromatic: lavender, juniper berry and geranium. Below lies smoky leather, backed by patchouli and vetiver, which gives the whole an animalic, nocturnal side.

Bold As Love is the boldest of the Cologne Elixirs, and we mean that as a compliment. The fruity start is almost cheerful, but within a quarter of an hour the smoky leather takes over and it becomes intimate and a little rough. It projects well and lasts deep into the evening. It shines on winter nights, for a concert or a late drink. Leather lovers who want something both fresh and dangerous should certainly try it.
