Inspiration

Rose, frankincense and ambergris form Amouage's classic triad. With Guidance, Quentin Bisch gave that triad a new and surprising reading. Amouage puts it best: Guidance reads like a poem, smells like an embrace and feels like a word of wisdom. In 2024 it won Best Perfume in High Luxury at the Belgian Beauty Awards.

The Gift of Kings Set 2026 pairs the Eau de Parfum with a shower gel and a body lotion, so the fragrance can be built up in layers, from skin to perfume.

The Signature of Guidance

The opening is soft and unexpected: juicy pear, a cool cloud of frankincense and the roasted, almost milky warmth of hazelnut. The heart is floral and golden. Saffron lays a leathery sheen over rose, jasmine sambac and osmanthus, the latter with its characteristic hints of apricot and tea.

Beneath lies a warm, mineral base. Cistus brings resin, sandalwood creaminess, akigalawood a spicy woody touch and ambergris a salty, skin-like radiance, rounded off with a hint of vanilla.

Concentration: 25% perfume oil, 4 weeks of ageing: 1 week maceration and 3 weeks maturation.

Guidance is one of the fragrances our team keeps coming back to. On skin it opens light and fruity, but within half an hour the osmanthus comes forward and the whole turns warm and golden. Hours later, a soft aura of sandalwood and ambergris remains, very close to the skin, the kind that makes people lean in.

It is beautiful in autumn and winter, but also on a cool spring evening. A fragrance for a dinner, a night at the theatre or a quiet Sunday, and for anyone, man or woman, who loves soft florals with depth. With the shower gel and body lotion, you can wear it in layers. It is a one-time, limited gift set.
