Inspiration
Above the Waves is the first Etat Libre d'Orange fragrance devoted to tea. The house sees the tea ritual as more than a gesture: a moment to reconnect with movement and breath. The fragrance is dedicated to Mazu, the goddess who protects sailors, and stands for shelter, elevation and the wish to look above the waves for a moment and see the larger picture. Two distinctive tea varieties form its core.

The Signature of Above the Waves
What sets this fragrance apart is the interplay of two teas. Green maté brings a herbal, slightly hay-like freshness, Ceylon tea a darker, almost tannic depth. Bergamot and cardamom make the opening clear and airy, while incense sets a calm, meditative tone early on. A touch of rose softens the heart, and tonka bean, cedar and vetiver form a dry, woody base that lets the tea resonate for a long time.
