1472 is the year in which Dante's La Divina Commedia was first printed. Dante wrote of heaven and hell, and 1472 feels as though Gérald Ghislain translated that journey into amber. On spraying, the solar accord shines straight through a cloud of white artemisia, herbal and slightly bitter, while ylang-ylang lends a golden, almost creamy glow. Then it becomes more solemn. Cinnamon and frankincense build a warm, sacred pillar together, and jasmine keeps that pillar floral and alive. The base holds our favourite moment: rum absolute, amber and benzoin melt into something reminiscent of an old liqueur in crystal, sweet yet never sticky.
