Carved Oud

Inspiration
Carved Oud goes back to an ancient Indian ritual of sixteen stages, in which a woman was adorned with perfume and jewels until she resembled the goddesses carved into temple walls. Thameen used an oud from the south of India to recall the scent of those temples: stone, wood and smoke, yet also something soft and feminine.

The Signature of Carved Oud
Cardamom, cypriol and cypress oil open fresh and lightly resinous, with a green, almost pine-like side. Then the oud steps forward, flanked by cedarwood and patchouli, dry and clean with no barnyard edge. In the base, vetiver, amber, musk, labdanum and sandalwood bring a round, warm drydown.

For us Carved Oud is the oud you hand to sceptics. There is no sharp or medicinal edge; the wood feels polished, just as the name promises. Cardamom and cypress keep the start clear, and after an hour the scent is mostly the warmth of labdanum and sandalwood. It lasts well without taking over the room. Once the weather turns, it pairs well with a wool jacket or a dark sweater. Anyone curious about oud but wary of the raw material makes a good start here.
