Anubis

Inspiration
Anubis, named after the Egyptian god of the afterlife, embodies the sacred mysteries of Ancient Egypt. It began as perfumer Liz Moores' personal signature scent; she has always been drawn to dark, leathery fragrances. Only once it was finished did she realise that her fascination with ancient Egypt had manifested itself subconsciously: the first materials, associated with mummification, were sweetened into a dark yet alluring fragrance. In 2014 Anubis became Liz's first creation for Papillon.

The Signature of Anubis
Heady jasmine blooms amid rich suede and smoulders over a base of frankincense, sandalwood and labdanum. Vivid accents of immortelle, pink lotus and saffron give the scent glow and contrast, so the leather never feels heavy but stays velvety and mysterious.

Anubis moves us with its balance between Egyptian jasmine and frankincense: refined, without ever becoming loud. On the skin we notice how Egyptian jasmine and pink lotus set the tone in the first hour, after which suede and immortelle slowly come forward. After several hours mainly frankincense and saffron remain, close to the skin and ever more personal. We like to wear it best in autumn and winter, in the evening and on atmospheric occasions. A scent for lovers of leather and incense who seek softness in the dark.
