Mumtaz Mahal

Inspiration
Mumtaz Mahal was the beloved wife of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, who had the Taj Mahal built for her after her death. Nicolas de Barry became for a moment the perfumer of the imperial couple and wrote an ode to the rose, the flower Mumtaz often holds in the Persian miniatures that depict her.
