The Story of the Brand
Carthusia calls itself an Italian love story, and it begins with a legend. The perfumes of Capri have been handed down over the centuries, from the days of Queen Giovanna d'Angiò until now, intertwined with the legend of the monks of the Certosa di Capri. Today the brand is kept with great care by the Ruocco family, Capresi for generations and always in love with their land. The laboratory stands close to the Giardini di Augusto and has set itself the aim, for more than twenty years, of being the greatest expression of Made in Italy in niche perfumery. Chairman Silvio Ruocco puts it this way: for the Capresi of his generation the gardens meant everything, the first kiss, the first declaration of love.
The Signature of the House
Every step of production is done by hand, with natural methods and the care of a craft. Everything in the fragrances comes from the nature of Capri, and you can taste it: green, salty, sunny and slightly bitter, without heavy sweetness. The brand translates that into Italian restraint. Fiori di Capri puts lily of the valley and wild carnation over amber, sandalwood, ylang-ylang and oak. Corallium is salty and full, with scented woods, aromatic herbs, flowers and fruit. Carthusia Uomo smells of open sea, fresh fruit, Russian leather and cashmere. Intenso di Basilico won the Accademia del Profumo award for best men's perfume made in Italy.
