The Story of the Brand
In 1799 the young James Atkinson headed to London with a collection of scent recipes and, remarkably, a live bear. His laboratory at 44 Gerrard Street in Soho soon became famous. In 1826 King George IV appointed him Official Perfumer to the Royal Court of England, and in 1832 the house moved to 24 Old Bond Street in Mayfair.

Atkinsons combines British tradition with a contemporary eye. Many modern scents are inspired by James Atkinson's original creations and bear the names of the house's historic boutiques and workshops.
