Memoir of the Black Swan
Charles Baudelaire’s bohemian life in Parisand his masterpiece "Les Fleurs du Mal" were the inspiration for this Amouage fragrance. Absinthe lends expression to this inspiration and dark, floral woody chords emphasize the mysterious mood of the fragrance.

Shortly before midnightthe flâneur wanders through the narrow streets and dark alleys. His senses are dulled by opium and absinthe. Accompanied by a black fog, he does not know where it is leading him.

The black fog leads him into a surreal and dark world. A déjà-vu. This world reflects his other self again - his memoirs, written long before he was born.
Midnightstrikes and the black fog turns into a black female swan. Attracted by the danger posed by the swan, he follows her into the unknown. He wants to find out who she is.

Who is the female black swan?
She is a part of our identity and embodies two interrelated yet conflicting sides. The black swan symbolizes the dark side in all of us. She is the alter ego of the flâneur – he is she and she is he.
They exist as one entity. They form the alternative past, present and future. They share the joys and sorrows of each other but exist separately. Pure beauty is fleeting. The darkness, the mystery and the ineffable - therein lies the beauty of truth that permanently fascinates.
