Inspiration

A beachside fairground in Santa Monica. Screams from the rollercoaster, the scent of vanilla waffles drifting into the salty ocean air, and a denim jacket thrown casually over your shoulders. With that image, Perroy wrote Whitedenim: an eau de parfum that captures the memory of a summer by the sea.

Perroy is a French perfume house that imagines, develops and handcrafts all of its fragrances in its own workshop in France. Like the house's other fragrances, Whitedenim carries a one-word name, a colour paired with an image: here, the white denim of a carefree summer day.

The Signature of Whitedenim

Whitedenim begins softly. The milky accord is warm and enveloping, with something of the gentle sweetness of a waffle or a bowl of warm milk. It is a texture more than a flavour: round, skin-like and comforting.

Almost immediately the salty notes appear, with a fresh, iodine edge that recalls sea breeze and sun-warmed skin. That contrast is the heart of the fragrance. Salt makes the milky accord less sweet and gives it air, while the milk softens the sharpness of the salt. The result feels fresh and cosy at once, summery yet comfortable.

In the base, sandalwood takes over. Sandalwood is naturally creamy, slightly milky and woody, so it connects seamlessly with the opening. It leaves a soft, warm trail that stays close to the skin for a long time, like the warmth of a day at the beach that you still feel in the evening.
