Inspiration
Vanilla Night & Day is among the newest Al Ambra creations, released in 2026. Its name gives away the intention: this vanilla refuses to be confined to the evening. The house envisaged a warm, cosy gourmand with the character of a dessert, richer than a floral but smoother and easier to wear than the heavy sugar scents the genre is sometimes known for. The presentation says just as much: glass fading from pink to deep aubergine, in a powder-pink box.

Vanilla appears twice in this composition, in the opening and in the base, so the scent stays faithful to its theme from start to finish. Red fruits bring a juicy, slightly tart freshness at the outset, keeping the first moment lively. Then it grows fuller. Caramel and honey lay down a syrupy, creamy layer, and this is the clever move: powdery notes temper that density and add a velvety texture, like icing sugar over a warm pudding. In the base vanilla, sugar and musk melt into a soft, long-lasting trail. The musk keeps the whole thing feeling polished instead of sticky.

Over the years we have seen a great many vanilla scents come and go, so we were curious what this one would add. For us the answer lies in the powder. Where many gourmands turn heavy and cloying after an hour, Vanilla Night & Day stays remarkably soft and polished. Worn by day with two sprays it is cosy and reassuring; in the evening, with a little more, it takes on a warmer, more sensual aura, so the name is well chosen. It shines brightest in the colder months, under a thick jumper or a wool coat. The brand presents it as a women's fragrance, but we know plenty of men who love a good vanilla, so please do not let that hold you back.
