Molecule 01

Inspiration
Molecule 01 consists of 100% Iso E Super. The molecule does not exist in nature and was created in an IFF laboratory in 1973. Geza Schoen chose it as the star because, to him, it expresses everything a perfumer could want: radiance, tenacity and power. When Molecule 01 launched in 2006, it did so with deliberate understatement: a bottle without a cap, a label encoded in binary and no story to soften the idea. "Molecule 01 is for the individual who might be a bit bored with fragrance and would prefer to radiate an aura," says Geza Schoen.

The Signature of Molecule 01
Iso E Super has a hyper-modern cedarwood note with a velvety sensation. On the skin it combines with, almost caramelises with, your own scent into a personal signature. Its hallmark is intermittence: to the wearer, it seems to vanish and then reappear. This is because the molecule only slowly releases from the olfactory receptors, after which there is room for a new charge. You may barely smell it yourself at times, while it stays present for those around you. "Iso E Super is one of those scents that makes you want to nestle into it. It's comforting and cocooning," says Geza Schoen. This is the official 30 ml refill: a separate bottle without a case, to carry with you or to fill the Escentric Molecules Portable case.

To us, Molecule 01 is less a perfume than a second skin: soft, woody and slightly different on everyone. Its very simplicity is what makes it remarkable. Lovely worn on its own, and at the same time a calm base for layering with other fragrances.
