Molecule 01 + Patchouli

Inspiration
The most minimal fragrance is a single aroma-molecule: Molecule 01. The next most minimal adds 1 to 01. This is Molecule +: the line in which Escentric Molecules pairs Iso E Super, the molecule that turned perfumery upside down, with a single natural ingredient. Molecule 01 + Patchouli consists of Iso E Super and patchouli, a natural extract from the leaves of the patchouli plant. "Patchouli is a unique natural. Unlike 99% of perfume ingredients, we associate it with a particular period, the sixties and seventies and that bohemian spirit. It has a cool, rather aloof woodiness to it, and I love it for its moody beauty," says Geza Schoen.

The Signature of Molecule 01 + Patchouli
Geza Schoen used two qualities of patchouli. The biggest share is Patchouli Coeur, a very clean, soft patchouli oil fraction with the camphor-like topnote removed. He also included a patchouli oil from Indonesia to round it out with a little topnote. "The result is a sophisticated, clean patchouli that pairs fantastically well with Molecule 01," he says. The cedarwood tones of Iso E Super intermingle with the softness of the patchouli into a dark, musky-earthy scent that hovers around you the whole day. This is the official 30 ml refill: a separate bottle without a case, to carry with you or to fill the Escentric Molecules Portable case.

Molecule 01 + Patchouli shows a very clean side of patchouli: earthy and dark, but without the camphor and heaviness many people associate with it. The Iso E Super makes it airy and skin-like. A modern patchouli with calm and depth.
