Molecule 01 + Cistus

Inspiration
The most minimal fragrance is a single aroma-molecule: Molecule 01. The next most minimal adds 1 to 01. This is Molecule +: the line in which Escentric Molecules pairs Iso E Super, the molecule that turned perfumery upside down, with a single natural ingredient. Molecule 01 + Cistus consists of Iso E Super and cistus, resin from the wild Mediterranean shrub Cistus ladanifer, the rock rose. Cistus is related to labdanum, the richer resin from the same shrub that Geza Schoen previously used in Escentric 05. "When pairing just one ingredient with Iso E Super, it's hard to tell what happens. This stuff is really a miracle. And with Cistus, I thought the result was beautiful," he says.

The Signature of Molecule 01 + Cistus
Cistus is sticky, golden and intense. It smells of labdanum but brighter: amber with a sunlit edge, smoky and mineral, with leathery undertones that ground the sweetness. The composition contains 4% cistus absolute, a high dose, so you can smell it from top to bottom. Together with Iso E Super it creates radiant depth: a haze of warmth, sheer and lasting, that lingers like heat on the skin. The house calls it a study in contrast: sweet and leathery, smooth and animalic, quiet and insistent.

Molecule 01 + Cistus is the darkest and warmest M+, without becoming heavy. The resin gives a gently smoky, leathery glow, the Iso E Super a soft airiness. Lovely for cooler days and for those who enjoy amber with character.
