Inspired by the scents and scenery of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, this fragrance is built around the aroma of pipe tobacco. Layers of rum, vanilla and hay are topped with cinnamon, ginger and black pepper, wrapped in the woody warmth.

Nostalgia is a form of time travel for the emotions, and scent can be the most powerful way to trigger it. For Laboratory Perfumes, a whiff of pipe tobacco can be enough to unleash a fond flood of childhood memories into the hippocampus. So, when it came to determining the base for our fifth fragrance, we chose something very personal – that earthily aromatic tobacco note.

With the help of a knowledgeable but somewhat bemused tobacconist, we went through dozens of different blends and cures in search of the right scent to build upon. The one we settled on had a whisper of the exotic, reminiscent of Morocco, so back in the lab we introduced supportive layers of rum, vanilla and hay that intensified its North African character. Spiced with cinnamon, ginger and black pepper, and complemented with the warming, woody aromas of fine Cognac, the result is a complex and confident fragrance that unveils intriguing new layers and facets as the day goes on.

ECO & ETHICS
At Laboratory Perfumes, we try to look after the world. After all, it’s where both the inspiration and the ingredients for our fragrances come from. All our practices and perfumes are formed in accordance with the same Hippocratic principle underpinning modern medicine: ‘first, do no harm’.

All our scents and candles are made in the UK using socially conscious, environmentally friendly and cruelty-free ingredients. We don’t test on animals and our scents are created in our lab using essential and fragrant oils.  All of them are skin-kind and free from parabens (Gorse does contain a small amount of phthalates & preservatives which are required to stabilise the citrus oils).

Lastly, all of our products are full compliant with the International Fragrance Association Standards.

Laboratory Perfumes fragrances are made with non-animal-derived ingredients and therefore vegan, and our scented candles are made with paraffin wax – with the exception of Atlas (our lab tests showed that this particular fragrance has to be infused into beeswax in order to preserve the integrity of the scent).

We demand the same ethical and environmental standards of everyone we work with – our supply chain is small, transparent, located entirely within the UK and fully adherent to ISO 9000: 2008. All glass, card and paper used in Laboratory Perfumes packaging is sustainably sourced and widely recycled.

Finally, Laboratory Perfumes fragrances are intended to be enjoyed by anyone and everyone. Gender is the one thing we really don’t care about.
