Description

L'Eau du Désert Marocain

Inspiration

When the sun goes down, the Sahara falls silent. The sky turns indigo, the wind becomes salt and the heat of the day turns into softness. That moment, the blue night of the desert, is what Marrakech Imperial set out to capture in L'Eau du Désert Marocain, a fragrance from The Moroccan Sahara Collection, alongside Esprit Nomade and Royal Sultana.

The house describes it as a mineral, saline, natural oud, where ambery warmth meets dry woods and the mysterious shadow of the desert. Saline, enveloping and hypnotic. It is an extrait de parfum at a 35 percent concentration, and the bottle tells the same story: a gradient from deep night blue to bright blue beneath a golden cap.

Fragrance Family

Woody oriental. A unisex extrait de parfum (35%).

The Olfactive Composition

Top notes: Caramel, Davana, Saffron, Lemon
Heart notes: Marine Notes, Salt, Cypriol, Patchouli, Amber
Base notes: Oud, Amberwood, Cedarwood, Sandalwood

The Signature of L'Eau du Désert Marocain

The opening is the last golden light of the day. Saffron gives a dry, spicy glow, caramel a warm sweetness, davana a fruity, slightly liqueur-like tone and lemon a bright spark that lifts it all. It is rich but not heavy: the citrus keeps the sweetness in check.

Then comes the remarkable part of this composition. Instead of warming further, the heart cools down. Marine notes and salt bring a mineral, almost sandy salinity, as if the desert wind carried something of a distant sea. Cypriol, the fragrant root of a sedge, adds an earthy, smoky-woody tone that is often paired with oud. Patchouli and amber give depth and texture. It is this meeting of salt and warmth that makes the fragrance so recognisable: sweet and saline, dry and soft at the same time.

The base is the night itself. Oud brings dark, woody depth, amberwood a radiant, dry warmth, and cedar and sandalwood give the whole structure and a creamy finish. At 35 percent concentration, it unfolds slowly and stays on the skin for a long time.

What our ParfuMaria team thinks of this fragrance

We consider L'Eau du Désert Marocain a remarkably original oud fragrance. Oud is often paired with rose or heavy spices; here it keeps company with salt, marine notes and caramel, which gives a fresh, mineral air to an otherwise warm, woody composition.

An extrait for oud lovers looking for something beyond the classic oriental direction, and for anyone who wants to wear a fragrance that feels like an evening in the desert. A few sprays are enough. This view is based on the official composition and the house's own description.
