Inspiration
From the house's Japanese series comes Japanese Whiskey, based on verses by ÅŒtomo no Tabito, who wishes to drink and savour this life and will gladly be an insect or a bird in the next. The scent honours the Japanese whisky tradition and was a finalist at the Art and Olfaction Awards 2026.
Fragrance Family
Whiskey and woody
The Olfactive Composition
Main notes: Whiskey, mizunara oak, malted barley, clary sage, sandalwood, chestnut
The Signature of Japanese Whiskey
Whisky and mizunara, the rare Japanese oak used for casks, give a warm, gently sweet woodiness. Malted barley and chestnut bring a roasted, nutty side. Clary sage and sandalwood round it off with refinement and creaminess.
What our ParfuMaria team thinks of this fragrance
Japanese Whiskey is the showpiece of d'Annam in our salon, and the large bottle is only part of it. It smells of a quiet bar in Tokyo late at night, with a glass slowly warming in the hand. The chestnut and barley make it cosy, while the clary sage adds a herbal clarity that keeps it from turning boozy. For anyone fond of wood and spirits who finds cognac scents too heavy, this is the subtler choice. It clings to a collar for a long time, warm and patient.
