Ivvavik

Inspiration
Ivvavik means birthplace in Inuvialuktun. It is the name of a national park in the far north of Canada, where a night under the stars stayed with Almah so vividly that an extrait grew out of it. On their trips through Canada and the United States the Magrans brothers bought the cedarwood themselves, and that wood forms the heart of the composition.

The Signature of Ivvavik
Virginia cedar is dry and pencil-like, the Canadian cedar feels cooler and more resinous. Bourbon lays a warm, slightly sweet glow over it, nutmeg a grain of spice. Then come the flowers you might find on that tundra: fireweed, trillium, violet and wild rose, with spikenard as an earthy, almost musky depth.

For us Ivvavik feels like a wood fire in the cold. It opens with the bourbon and the wood, an hour later the flowers come through, which makes it softer than you expect. As an extrait it is tenacious: morning to night, and the day after there is still cedar in your scarf. We like it best in autumn and winter, outdoors in nature or on a quiet evening. Wood with a romantic edge, for him as much as for her.
