Inspiration
51 carries the house number of the Roja boutique in Burlington Arcade, Mayfair. Roja Dove wanted to capture the scent of that shop and looked at the people who come there: the glamorous women who shop with him, and the cheeky past of the Arcade itself. For the first he chose an opulent bouquet with vanilla and Casmir wood, for the second a play of fruit and spice.

The Signature of 51 Pour Femme
The heart is a classic white and pink bouquet: Rose de Mai, gardenia, tuberose, lily and jasmine, so rich it almost feels like fabric. What makes 51 contemporary is the raspberry in the middle of those flowers and the aniseed, cinnamon and clove beneath. Those spices tip the sweetness off balance in exactly the right way. Orris and violet leaf add a powdery, faintly green sheen, while benzoin and vanilla let the composition fade out warmly.

For us 51 Pour Femme is Roja's most metropolitan floral: polished, with a blow-dry and an evening bag. The first minutes are bright and citrusy, then the tuberose steps forward and the scent grows deeper and fuller. After a few hours a powdery skin of orris, sandalwood and vanilla remains, staying close to you. We like it best in autumn and winter, for a dinner or a premiere. A scent for anyone who loves classic florals and seeks a little more character in them.
