4160 Tuesdays - The Lion Cupboard

The original lion cupboard is a carved Victorian sideboard with lions’ heads for door handles. My sister and I used to play with it when we were small, and our late father kept his hats, scarves and gloves in it. The wood picked up the aroma of his scarves, which had taken on his own scent of fresh cologne, soap and traditional toothpowder.

After he died, my sister would put her head inside to inhale the scent of a hug from our dad. Then one day our mother washed it away with bleach. So when my sister wanted a perfume, she wanted The Lion Cupboard.

This was one of the first fragrances I made when I decided to have a go at making scents that reminded people of happy times. It took three tries before we both agreed it was just right
 
Woody herbal fougere
top notes: grapefruit, juniperberry, mint, lavender
heart notes: woods, black pepper, rose
base notes: tobacco, vetivert, patchouli, ylang, vanilla, cocoa.
