That night the air of Malaga was filled by the odor of the fruits, wine, spices and old Arabic music. The city seemed more lively than usual that August, 1964. The feast has suddenly started, as a spell, it was rich of colors, sounds, dances, and colorful dresses. People were persevering in unrestrained dances and loud voice chats.
Luke and Michelle were looking for each other in the crowd of the tourists enchanted by the happiness and the sensuality of that Andalusian rhythm, the music spread into a city crowded with people and flowers. They were tired but happy. They stopped for a while on the stair of Manquita, just the time for breathing and looking into each others' eyes. They were recreating their relationship, maybe.
They had needed that unexpected travel, it had started suddenly with no destinations nor plans. They had embarked on the first available ship looking for something of different, and they had found a captivating and enchanting world, but above all they had discovered a new way of being a couple.
People on the beach was tasting roasted sardine and fried fishes, while the castanets were trembling in the air and the notes of flamenco were caressing the bodies. Everywhere beats of hands and sound of heels seemed to be a rhythmic invite to the passion. It was the Gran Fiesta Del Verano
“Señorita, señorita , a little souvenir from Malaga!”
Luke and Michelle smiled warmly, they looked into each other’s eyes and after a while there wasn’t anyone next to them. “where were the young gipsy girl?”. They started to look for her among the crowd, they entered in a tiny street, then in another one. They watched but they were not able to see her.
The casket, received without reason from the young gipsy girl, was decorated with stones and flower, it sparkled into Michelle’s hand. Luke looked into her eyes, while he was opening the jewelry box. He was astonished by her beauty.
He found a brilliant little bottle that seemed to shine more than that gipsy night! An exotic spice aroma spread into the air, the fragrance of the city of Malaga, wine, fruit and tobacco mixed together in a perfume that he has never smelt before.
The fragrance filled the air, the streets, the beach and the casetas, where people had been dancing and drinking all night long. As the fragrance arrived, men and women started to dance as united by that magic emotion.
The first lights of the dawn were appearing when the ship departed, but two passengers stayed there .
