Cire Trudon - La Marquise - Perfumed Candle

The powdery and merry air of a delicious boudoir: verbena and lemon polish the sensuality of the white flowers and roses. This perfume, at once tender and vivid, rekindles the sharpness of Madame de Pompadour’s conversations and the voluptuous charms of the Rocaille chic.

Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, Marquise de Pompadour, a lady of the French bourgeoisie, became the intimate confidante and favourite of King Louis XV. She had the three qualities of a king's favourite: beauty, wit and tenacity. A woman of taste and a patron of artists, she is also known for originating the “rocaille” style and redesigning the Sèvres porcelain factory.

The candles

Maison Trudon - L'ART DU CIRIER

Henri-Louis Duhamel du Monceau (1700-1782) was elected an associate member of France’s Royal Academy of Sciences in 1730. He actively participated in publishing the Description des Arts et des Métiers (Description of Arts and Crafts) collection by writing over twenty leaflets. One was dedicated to the “Candler’s Art”.

To help write the article, Duhamel du Monceau solicited Master Trudon whose expertise was invaluable. The text explained how wax is worked and then bleached to create church candles, flambeaux and torches … This leaflet confirmed, at the highest level, the skills and expertise of Cire Trudon.
